Porch ("we", "us") is a private iPhone app for small friend circles, operated by Xavier Bernard in Florida, USA. This policy covers the Porch app and this website. Contact: hello@porchapp.rsvp.

What we collect

DataWhy
Phone numberTo sign you in with a one-time SMS code and keep your account secure.
Display nameSo people in your circles know who's answering.
Circles you create or joinTo show you the right questions and people.
Your answers, the options you write, and your guessesTo run the morning and evening rounds. Visible only to members of that circle.
Push notification token and notification settingsTo send the reminders you turn on (for example, "tonight's round is about you").
Basic technical logs (time of request, error messages)To keep the service running and fix bugs.

We don't collect your contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifiers. We don't use third-party analytics or ad trackers.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of service providers to run Porch. They process data only to provide their service to us.

What we don't do

Who can see what

Your answers and guesses are visible to the members of the circle you posted them in, and to no one else. Anyone in a circle can see the display names of the other members. Your phone number isn't shown to other users.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your phone number, profile and push token within 30 days. Answers you posted in a circle are deleted along with your account.

Your choices

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Database access is restricted with row-level security so each user can only read data from circles they belong to. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll notify affected users if a breach occurs.

Children

Porch isn't for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll tell users in the app.
